Symbols Room Escape

"Not intuitive at all"

date: May 29, 2009

There needs to be something intuitive about escape games in order for them to work. I could not figure this one out. I read through the walkthrough, and I don't know how anyone would solve this game without the walkthrough. There just doesn't seem to be anyway to piece it together using logic. And it's too bad because I love escape games. I'm really disappointed this one isn't more accessible.

Morningstar

"Front Page Please!"

submission: Morningstar
date: May 19, 2009

This is one of the best adventure games I have played on Newgrounds in a long time, maybe ever. There is absolutely no reason this shouldn't be on the front page.

Pirate Matches

"Almost all luck"

submission: Pirate Matches
date: April 24, 2009

It's a fun game, but it's virtually all luck. You can't control your own fate ... just about all you can do is click away matches as they're been dealt to you. So, the rounds are bound to be pretty short. It would be more fun if there was some way that you had more control over the outcome.

House of Hell (Insanity)

"Awesome!"

date: April 15, 2009

This is a great start. I can't wait for the finished game. One small thing: the dialogue moves through really fast. Sometimes, it was a struggle to read it all before the next bit came up. Maybe you could slow it down a bit, or let the user control how fast it flows through? But man, great game! Can't wait for the full deal.

The Scared Groom

"Stereotypical setup."

submission: The Scared Groom
date: April 10, 2009

It would be nice if, instead of leveling up on the same items, there was a greater variety of items to choose between. Also, maybe it could be harder to find the groom, instead of seeing the map and then having it disappear. I'm not sure I love that aspect of it.

And I think a lot of us girls are going to be a little insulted by the idea that the game is based on dragging an unwilling groom to the altar. Maybe find an angle that's a little bit less stereotypical? It's not exactly original.

This is the best first animation I've ever seen! I'm a little bit blown away. The angles, the perspective, the story. You, sir, have good old-fashioned TALENT.

Deliver That Fulp

"So much fun!"

submission: Deliver That Fulp
date: April 1, 2009

i love the look. I love the thought-process you have to go through. I love the idea of it. So cheeky and brazen. Boy Tom Fulp has a good sense of humor about himself! And the best part is, it's just as much fun not winning as it is to win. Great game!

M & Ms Snake

"I'm not sure how girly it is"

submission: M & Ms Snake
date: March 20, 2009

I'm a girl who likes games, and candy and cutsey colors don't really do it for me. This game is fine. It's a perfectly acceptable version of classic Snake. But like most girl gamers I know, I like RPG games, entrepreneurial games, and even violent fight games if they have a storyline attached or fun graphics. It's a little insulting to assume candy and pastels are going to suck girls in.

Author's Response:

I dont say that girls dont like games like RPG or more complicated games, so please dont go too far and misunderstood, there's no intend to insult girls creating a game of this kind, if so why we should bother?

Youda Farmer

"I liked it ... but the truck froze on me"

submission: Youda Farmer
date: January 28, 2009

I played this game two times, and both times the truck froze up on me, once pretty early on in the game play, and the other time after I'd gotten pretty far into the game. With a bug like that, it doesn't quite seem like it's ready to be sold.

And please, there's nothing wrong with posting demos on Newgrounds. I think it's a good forum for demos ... but let us know before we start playing that we're playing a demo. It's only fair to the gamers!

I did think it was a fun game though. I like entrepreneurial games, and I like cute games-this is both. The graphics are good. The game play works smoothly (until the truck freezes). And I enjoyed the upgrades and bonus levels. In my humble opinion, totally worthy of front page. I just wish the truck didn't have that glitch and the description said it was a demo.
